Potatoes are such a versatile vegetable and can be done in so many ways. This potato bake is different from the usual in that the sauce is made over the stove and is flour based. The flour gives it a rich, thick consistency which in my opinion makes the dish so much better.

If you didn’t know, flour also adds some kind of flavor in its own mysterious way. Melting the cheese in the cream over the stove also give the dish a different feel compared to when you mix everything in the pan and toss it into the oven.

Try it out now and thank me later.

Ingredients

  1. Potatoes

  2. Fresh cream

  3. Milk

  4. Cheddar cheese

  5. Mozzarella cheese

  6. Dried parsley

  7. Flour

  8. Salt

  9. Black pepper

Cooking & Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 230•C

  2. Slice your potatoes into thin round pieces. Try not to make the slices too thin.

  3. Once your potato slices are ready, season with salt, pepper and parsley.

  4. Transfer your potatoes to a baking tray. Coat with olive oil.

  5. In a pot on medium heat, add one tablespoon of butter and 1/4 cup of flour. Whisk until incorporated, pour your milk and fresh cream and continue to whisk.

  6. Add your mozzarella and mix until a creamy and cheesy sauce forms.

  7. Pour this over your potatoes.

  8. Finish off with grated cheddar.

  9. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes or until the potatoes are soft. Uncover half way through the cook.

Enjoy!
