HOMEMADE PITA BREAD

Did you know that pita, naan, rotti, chapati, tortillas and focaccia are all types of flatbread? Each of these flatbreads are native to a specific region.
One of the most common types of flatbreads is Pita. This bread comes from the Mediterranean region and is made with yeast or a rising agent. Pita bread has a pocket that can be useful for stuffing meats and vegetables. It can also be used as a wrap.

Ingredients
Flour
Water
Sugar
Yeast
Salt
Sugar
Measurements
530g household flour
360g warm water
8g dry yeast
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
Instructions
In a small bowl add water, yeast and sugar.
Mix until the yeast dissolves, cover with a tea towel and set aside for 5 minutes.
In a larger bowl add your flour and salt.
Add your yeast mixture to the flour and mix until incorporated.
Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes.
Coat the dough in olive oil and cover with a tea towel
Leave to rise in a warm area for at least an hour or until dough doubles in size.
Once the dough doubles, punch it down to release the air and knead for two minutes.
Roll it into a ball. Cut in half and cut those halves into half as well.
Roll out your dough on a floured surface with a rolling pin or a wine bottle.
Add a Tbsp of olive oil to a non stick pan
Add your rolled out dough to your hot pan. Leave unturned until you see bubbles starting to form. Make sure your stove is on medium heat.
Repeat the process with the rest of the flat bread.
Serve with any protein you want.
