Ingredients

  • Whole Tilapia

  • Tomato

  • Onion

  • Mulberry tree sticks or foil paper

  • Spring onion

  • Salt

  • Vegetable oil

Cooking & Preparation

  1. Remove scales and intestines from the fish.

  2. Wash thoroughly.

  3. Cut your fish in half, separating the head from the tail and set aside.

  4. Chop up your vegetables.

  5. Place your sticks or foil at the bottom of the pot to prevent the fish skin from sticking to the pot.

  6. Place your fish on top of the sticks/foil.

  7. Add your salt, some onion, cooking oil and water, leave to boil.

  8. Boil for about 3 hours.

  9. In another pan, fry your tomato and the rest of your onions.

  10. Once your tomatoes and onions are cooked, pour your mixture into the pot with fish and let it simmer until the gravy reduces to your desired thickness.

  11. Serve with Nshima/Pap.
