CINNAMON ROLLS WITH CARAMEL SAUCE

It’s always good to measure your ingredients first!

Ingredients

Dough:

  • 7 grams of yeast

  • 1/2 cup warm water

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 1/3 cup butter

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 egg

  • 4-5 cups all-purpose flour

Filling:

  • 1/2 cup melted butter

  • 3/4 cup sugar

  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Caramel sauce

  • 4 tablespoons melted butter

  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 3 to 6 tablespoons hot water

Baking and Preparation

  1. Pre-Heat your oven at 180 •C

  2. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and set aside. In a large bowl mix milk, sugar, melted butter, salt and egg. Mix well!

  3. Add 2 cups of flour and mix until smooth then add your yeast mixture.

  4. Add the remaining flour until dough is less sticky and is easy to handle.

  5. Knead dough on lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes.

  6. Place in well-greased bowl, cover and let rise until it doubles in size, wait about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

  7. When the dough doubles in size, punch it down.

  8. Roll out on a floured surface into a large enough rectangle. Don’t roll out too thin.

  9. Spread melted butter all over dough.

  10. Mix sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over buttered dough.

  11. Beginning at the longer side, role up dough and pinch edge together to seal.

  12. Cut into 9-12 slices.

  13. Coat the bottom of baking pan with butter and sprinkle with sugar.

  14. Place the cinnamon roll slices close together in the pan and let rise until the dough doubles in size, about 20-30 minutes.

  15. Bake for about 30 minutes or until nicely browned.

  16. Mix butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla.

  17. Add hot water 1 tablespoon at a time until the glaze reaches desired consistency.

  18. When the rolls cool, pour your caramel glaze over the rolls.
